Sophie Levan

My name is Sophie Levan and I am Unity Shelter’s Community Engagement Coordinator. I graduated from Ohio State University in 2021 with a BA in Criminology & Justice Studies and Spanish. I began working with Unity Shelter in the fall of 2021 as shelter staff at Room at the Inn and have since served in a variety of roles at the Men’s Shelter, Hygiene Center, and SafePlace. In my current position, I am focused on strengthening community engagement by collaborating with volunteers, local businesses, and other community partners. I am passionate about Unity Shelter’s mission to provide safe shelter through community care, and I love having the opportunity to connect community members with meaningful ways to get involved with our work. My time with Unity Shelter has given me invaluable experience and insight into the complex social factors that contribute to homelessness in the United States, deepening my commitment to addressing barriers to housing for all.
