I started at Unity in 2021 as shelter staff at Safe Camp. In February of 2023, I accepted the position of Community Health Worker. Being a Community Health Worker allows me to follow my passion for social services by providing medical advocacy and resource navigation. My goal as a Community Health Worker is to successfully navigate the potential systemic barriers to care and the perplexity of the medical field. Working with unhoused individuals that use Unity Shelter’s services has highlighted a need for change that I want to be a part of in building better social supports for individuals to not just survive but to be able to thrive and live again. I am currently attending University of Oregon and getting my Master’s of Psychology degree which will aid in my career pathway and development of working with Community Based Organizations like Unity Shelter
