Dawn Lyman

Dawn Lyman was hired at Unity Shelter as Shelter Staff in May 2023. Dawn is a Certified Recovery Mentor and Peer Wellness Specialist. She is a recovering addict. She used from the young age of 19 until she went to prison at age 41. During that time she experienced domestic violence, homelessness, loss,  and much more. After being released from prison she decided that she wanted something different. She is currently 3 years clean, owns a brand new car, has her license and is housed.
She was drawn to a career as a Traditional Health Worker due to her passion for helping others and commitment to serving underserved communities. She has a deep desire to make a tangible impact on people's lives, especially those who may not have easy access to quality healthcare and addiction services.
